Functional medicine. It's the greatest discovery in modern day science. And natural healthcare. At least, that's what we think. It's a template that frames nutritional therapy, transforming people's lives. But how exactly does it work?
Put simply, the therapy reviews your body systems as a whole. This way we don't just address your symptoms individually; we identify the underlying root cause of your overall health concerns. It's about going straight to the source of your problems. But Kay takes this one step further. Through years of clinical practice, Kay Ali has developed her own specialist and effective approach that targets your imbalances. She calls it cellular alchemy®.
What's Cellular Alchemy®?
Our bodies are made of 50 trillion cells. As if that's not impressive enough, every single cell acts just like the human body as whole. What does that even mean?
Our cells have their own reproductive, respiratory, immune, cardiovascular, skeletal and detox systems. In fact, they even have their own brains! The cell membrane. Just as our own sensory system sends signals to our brain that determines how we act and feel, our cells have their own too.
In science talk we call them receptor sites. But we like to think of them as the cells' eyes, ears, hands, noses and mouths.
Why does this matter? Well, in short, we believe it's the key to unlocking your health and vitality. Our cells come together to make tissue, which come together to make an organ. Organs join together to make a system, which all come together to make you. By understanding what stimulates our cells' sensory system (or blocks them), we might be able to influence how they behave and in turn support our health.
What excites us most is that new science has shown this shapes how our genes express themselves too. Pretty cool, hey?
Minerals, vitamins, chemicals, hormones and energetic fields. These are the images, sounds, words and flavours that tell our cells how to act. Change them and your cells might just function differently. Get the change right and you might just shift your body towards better wellbeing.
This is why Kay's method primarily focuses on genetic testing and hormone balance through nutritional therapy and lifestyle practices. It's transformative.
This is cellular alchemy®.
What's more is, it's a personalized process. We humans are all different; so it's only right that our healthcare considers our unique selves first. We listen to your story and analyze your medical history. And we recommend tests to help us understand what's going on before making any dietary and lifestyle changes.
We don't claim to treat your health conditions. But we can certainly support you. And the results can be pretty astonishing. Using scientifically proven whole foods and supplements we target your underlying imbalance and aim to restore it. So you can feel your best. Again.
"I have at my disposal the best medicines and pharmaceutical treatments. I can send patients to the best surgeons and specialists anywhere in the world. But time after time, I find the most powerful, fastest acting, and most dramatic results come from using food as our main medicine."

It all began 8 years ago. Like many modern women I was fed up of juggling a million titles, the self-judgment and just not feeling my best. Fresh out of studying at an Ivy League, I was an ambitious career woman working long hours in broadcast journalism; a full-time carer for my disabled mother and planning the wedding of the Century. I should probably add that I was still grieving the loss of my father too. Needless to say I was burnt out. I often joke that I had my mid-life crisis in my early 20s. The truth is I did. With a week to spare before my wedding and a head that felt like it was stuffed with cotton wool, I dropped everything and booked a one-way ticket to Africa. It was the best thing I ever did.
The turning point
I’ve always had a connection with food. But my ‘ah-ha’ moment happened out there. My housekeeper dropped right in front of me and had a stroke. It reminded me of my father’s stroke and his passing. Only fast forward 3 months and my dear friend came back stronger than I’d ever seen him. I couldn’t believe it. I had to know what he did that was so different to my father. To quote him “I just ate what my tribe leader fed me.”
"My mission is simple.
I want to help people feel their best. I believe it all
starts with hormonal balance.”
Of course conventional medicine has its place and it's something I still recommend and respect. But it was precisely this moment that I realized I had to understand how food can support our wellbeing. At the very least for my own health. I travelled back to London with a clear head and life purpose. I retrained at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition and committed myself to the study and application of nutrition science for health.
Today I use that experience to help transform other people's lives. I’m a Registered Nutritional Therapist, a Senior Associate Member of The Royal Society of Medicine, the Co Founder of You Need A Nutritional Therapist, and a self confessed science buff. I just love it.
